Art, Sr. was drafted by the army in May of 1951 and proudly served our country till February 1953. He fought for our country during the Korean War serving 11 months and 16 days overseas. He was assigned to the 89th Medium Tank Battalion of the United States Army. It was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division. The unit participated in no fewer than ten campaigns, from 1951 through the Armistice in 1953. It earned the Presidential Unit Citation and the Navy Unit Commendation.
